‘Tis the season to be jolly

December is the month that closes the year. It is the month of different celebrations throughout the world. Whatever your beliefs you can’t failed to have noticed the chill in the air, getting chillier. The daylight hours shrinking and the dark winter evenings stretching out.

December is a time for reflection too. It is also a time for looking towards family (in its many forms) and friendships. But the biggest and most important relationship we have is the one we have with ourselves. We are our harshest critic. We often put everyone else’s needs before our own, and this can be detrimental to ourselves. The hardest lesson to learn is that we are our number one priority. This isn’t selfish, quite the opposite in fact. If we cannot look after ourselves and we aren’t in the best shape either mentally or physically, how can we look after anyone else?

Think about it. If you are a measuring jug and only partly full, how can you give the energy in it to other people without running out. If you top up that jug on a regular or semi-regular basis, you have more energy to give and more energy to be able to physically do the things you need or want to do.

My answer will of course be, come for Reiki, Reflexology or Crystal therapy treatments, but this isn’t always practical. What about setting time aside first thing in the morning for a 10 or 15 minute meditation or walk outside. A warm bath, in the evening with relaxing essential oils. Just give yourself some much needed “ME” time. Another simple tip is to start a gratitude diary, so write down 10 things before you go to bed, that you are grateful for and ten when you wake up, look over the list. It will put you in a more positive mind set for that day

Time to relax and unwind or recharge. It could be as simple as singing your favourite song or dancing in the kitchen. Do whatever it is that makes your heart sing, that bring a sense of joy, raising your energy.

But you could just treat yourself to a Reiki, Reflexology or Crystal Therapy session. Email me for an appointment
